Before choosing a LinkedIn deal, understand how it activates. The subscription name alone does not tell you whether someone else needs access to your account.
Email-only activation
Eligible Premium Career and Premium Business offers can activate using the LinkedIn account’s email address without sharing its password. Follow the instructions for the exact offer and confirm eligibility first.
“Email-only” means the address—not the password to your email inbox. Do not send email-login credentials, recovery codes or payment details. Check the domain of any activation link before opening it.
Assisted-login activation
Some Sales Navigator offers use temporary provider access to your LinkedIn account to complete activation. The intended purpose is subscription setup, not reading your messages or managing your network.
But intention is not a technical restriction. A person who can sign in may be able to see private account information or act as you. A temporary password, an established seller or a short access window does not make that exposure disappear.
The route for a Premium Company Page must be confirmed separately, including any Page-admin permissions needed. It is not automatically the same process as a personal Premium subscription.
Decide before sharing access
For an account containing sensitive conversations, client information or an important professional identity, I would give account control serious weight in the decision. An eligible email-only route avoids giving a provider your login. Purchasing directly from LinkedIn is another option when you do not accept the assisted-access trade-off.
Do not proceed simply because you feel committed to a deal. Choose a method whose access requirements you understand.
Security steps for an assisted offer
These reduce exposure; they do not remove the policy issue or guarantee that no information can be accessed.
- Confirm the exact plan, activation steps, duration, warranty and who needs access. Never share the same password you use elsewhere.
- Keep two-step verification enabled and control approvals yourself. Do not provide your email password, backup/recovery codes or unrelated account credentials.
- Before activation, review the account’s recovery information and signed-in sessions. Keep a private record of the expected devices.
- Once activation is confirmed, change the temporary LinkedIn password immediately, review signed-in sessions, and revoke unfamiliar access. Check recovery details and connected applications as well.
- Verify the plan and expiry in LinkedIn itself. Retain the offer and activation details without storing credentials in a public note.
If the instructions you receive conflict with these safeguards, stop and resolve the issue before granting access.
A check that is easy to miss
Compare access before and after activation, not just the Premium badge. The badge confirms a subscription; it does not tell you whether an unfamiliar session or changed recovery detail remains. This is why the final account-security check matters even when the subscription works.
What the warranty does—and does not—mean
The LinkedIn offers retain complete warranty for the purchased validity under their stated conditions. Read Warranty, Support & Refund Policy ↗ for handling a covered access problem.
A subscription warranty is not a promise that account sharing has no privacy consequences, nor a guarantee against every LinkedIn enforcement decision. Confirm the particular offer before ordering.
