The inside details that matter
The current Starter packaging uses a credit system, not unlimited AI generation.
Current Magic Patterns documentation lists:

How I would start
- Give it one real screen from your product or a clear description of your visual system.
- Ask for one end-to-end user flow, not an entire app in a single prompt.
- Generate two or three meaningfully different approaches and compare the interaction, not just the colors.
- Lock down the design-system direction before generating lots of additional screens.
- Hand the chosen direction to engineering only after you have clicked through it as if you were the user.

Use your real design system + MCP/GitHub workflow so the prototype is not just disposable inspiration.
The normal beginner workflow is: generate a pretty mock-up, screenshot it, and then ask a developer to recreate everything. The more interesting workflow is to make Magic Patterns aware of your actual components and then use its connected development workflow to carry that direction forward.
That means you can explore a new feature using the visual language your product already uses, decide on the flow, and give engineering something much closer to implementation-ready context instead of a random AI design.
A second small trick: when a long conversation starts producing confused or stale results, Magic Patterns documents /Clear to reset conversation context. Use it before starting an unrelated design problem rather than dragging old instructions into the next prototype.
What to avoid
- Do not treat monthly credits as unlimited usage.
